According to Dataxis’ DigiTV service, as of Q309, UK and Ireland households are spending an average up to 6 times more than Greece and around 3 times more than Germany for pay TV per month.

As part of DigiTV, Dataxis analyses pay TV revenues by country, operator, access technology (cable, DTH, terrestrial, IPTV) on a quarterly base.

Revenues taken into account are: access fees, pay TV options, STB rental and VOD.

This ranking presents the average monthly spending for all households. It reflects the level of penetration of pay TV versus free TV and the ARPU level in each country. A country ranking by pay TV ARPU would be different.

One main reason for this.
Subsiding Sky's outrageously overpriced tv rights for the EPL.
Its scandalous the amount of money being charged for pay tv in these isles considering the poor selection of channels ,the number of repeats, the amount of junk reality tv and how good the free channels like bbc are.

I've always said it. If these greedy punks charged a reasonable fee less people would be looking to hack!
