i was wanting to restore my iphone 4 to factory settings without having to go through the fuss of re-jailbreaking the phone.

After a bit of searching around i found a painless way of doing this.

Thought it might be of some use to other members,
so here is a short very basic guide, presuming you have a jailbroken phone with cydia.

(apologies if this is common knowledge or if there's a far easier way, i'm a bit of a noob iphone wise lol)

you need two apps to do this:

1: MobileTerminal
2: iLEX RAT

1: MobileTerminal
simply instal this from BigBoss repo in the usual way.

2: iLEX RAT
you will need to add a new REPO to your cydia sources:

open cydia, tap manage, tap edit, then type in the following url into the box.
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

once the package is installed you will have a new source called "iLEXiNFO"
instal "iLEX R.A.T." from there (there are a few diffrent versions, i used the beta one for ios 7)

NOTE: there will not be an icon on your homescreen for this app, you have to run it from the mobile terminal app installed in stage 1.

3: doing the business.

open the MobileTerminal app. (a black screen will pop up that looks like command prompt in windows.)

type in the word "rat" (no quotes)

you will now have a list of options 1 through 12.
the option we are interested in is option 12.

simply type in "12" then a "y" to confirm.

the app will restore your iphone but leave the jailbreak and cydia button..
mines took less than 5 minutes :)
