Linux Help setting up secure linux

I am interested in arch linux but it seems complicated.. Which linux OS would you recommend and why? Any insight is appreciated.

As an introduction to Linux you may better looking at Ubuntu. Most of the installation decisions are taken for or run it first direct from the media. Either way you can still get down to the nitty-gritty of Linux gradually rather than have the steep learning curve of the Arch distribution.

I have used ubuntu a bit kali and centos just slightly. But I want a specalized install for music and one for browsing or launching a vm kali for pen testing my home network or friends systems as permitted.

Would need more detail but Ubuntu supports VirtualBox and Kali runs in that?

Linux Mint would be another option (basically a leaner version of Ubuntu).
