'heat' radio station to launch on Freeview

A radio version of popular celebrity gossip magazine heat is to launch via Freeview at the end of the month, EMAP have announced.

The launch of Heat Radio on September 30 will follow just days after the launch of Mojo Radio, another station based on an EMAP magazine title.

Heat Radio will feature uptempo tracks from the 1980s to the present day, appealing to "listeners looking for an exciting and exuberant mix of current hits and ‘old skool’ music". The playlist will feature the likes of Justin to Wham and Beyonce to Sister Sledge.

“When it comes to entertainment heat readers are smart, savvy, discerning and quick to seek out hot new stuff – Heat Radio will quickly build a great audience," said Paul Keenan, chief executive of Emap Consumer Media.

The magazine's trademark gossip will not feature on the station, which will be DJ-f
