Four Lions (2010): DVD: hmv.com
Cracking price for a hilarious film!
From writer-director Chris Morris, (Brass Eye, The Day Today) and the co-writers of In the Loop and Peep Show comes FOUR LIONS - hailed by Total Film as "A brave and uproariously funny farce composed from a rare formula: heart, brains and belly laughs".
Four men in a secret flat are recording martyr videos. They agree they must strike a blow. But they disagree about everything else. For Omar they must attack Britain and “bring havoc to this torture endorsing Disneyland”. But Barry insists they bomb a mosque and bring on armageddon. So Omar splits the group, taking loyal but “thick as fudge” Waj to training camp and leaving Barry behind. Furious, Barry recruits new members indiscriminately, while in Pakistan Omar and Waj find that inexperience, arrogance and a loaded rocket launcher are a recipe for total disaster. Sent home in disgrace Omar rashly takes the entire project on himself – doubly difficult since the cell now includes the eccentric Faisal who trains kamikaze crows to fly into “towers full of ****” and a rapping student who may be Special Branch. Blunders ensue, plans unravel, and in a hilarious and breathtaking climax Omar finds himself with no option but to outrun a closing security net by hurtling towards the London Marathon in a van full of explosives, fancy dress costumes and a cell of ill prepared berks.
Special Features
Lost Boys documentary
Bradford Film Festival Premier featurette
