Former Sony chairman and CEO Nobuyuki Idei has praised Nintendo’s market strategy, claiming that such companies make him confident about Japan’s electronics industry.

The 71-year-old hailed Nintendo’s Wii as an example of a device that does more than just process information, and called for the development of more products like Amazon's Kindle book reader.

"Nintendo senses what is happening in the world and then [acts] on it," he told The Financial Times.

Following his resignation from Sony in 2005, Business Week magazine nominated Idei for its "Worst Manager of 2005" award due to the company's losses during his tenure.
