My cameras flash is dead and been told it needs a new capacitor - ive also read you need to be an expert with electronics as draining the old capacitor before remove is highly dangerous.

Anyone know of any tuts on draining, changing the capacitor?

Piece of cake mate, if you can get the flash apart then connect a 1 Megohm 1/2 watt resistor across the capacitor BUT careful only touch 1 lead of the capacitor at a time NOT both ends or you will get a jolt. Leave it for an hour and check the voltage across the cap after that NOTE remove the batteries before starting just to be on the safe side.
If your worried send it to me and I replace the cap for you.
