Flamurtari 1-0 Motherwell

Motherwell lost the opening leg of their Europa League second qualifying round tie against hosts Flamurtari.

After a goalless first half, the visitors were awarded a penalty just after the break when John Sutton was fouled by Bledion Guga.

Sutton, who had earlier hit the bar, netted from 12 yards but was ordered to retake the spot-kick and goalkeeper Shpetim Mocka saved the second attempt.

And Emir Strati punished Well when he struck the winner after 66 minutes.

Motherwell, who fielded an unchanged starting line-up to the one which beat Llanelli last week, endured a three-hour journey from Tirana and arrived at Stadiumi Flamurtari two hours before kick-off.

The searing heat in Vlorë prompted referee Fritz Stuchlik to take the unusual step of stopping the match for a two-minute water break in both halves.

Falkirk 1-0 Vaduz

Falkirk won their first ever match in European competition thanks to a debut goal by Ryan Flynn.

Flynn, who rejoined the Bairns on loan from Liverpool, struck five minutes into the second half to gain a first-leg advantage in the Europa League tie.

Nick Proschwitz had earlier come close for Vaduz with a header from Michael Stegmayer's throw-in.

Vaduz applied more pressure after the break and Tam Scobbie and Scott Arfield made crucial blocks for Falkirk.

The Bairns were being managed for the first time by Eddie May, who was promoted from coaching the reserve team after John Hughes left to join Hibernian.

And last season's beaten Scottish Cup finalists included Flynn and fellow new signings Brian McLean, Alex MacDonald and Marc Twaddle in their starting line-up.

Crusaders 1-1 FK Rabotnicki

Crusaders kept their Europa League hopes alive as David Rainey's late goal earned them a 1-1 draw against FK Rabotnicki at Mourneview Park.

Bobi Bozinovski put the Macedonians ahead on 47 minutes and the Crues' hopes looked bleak when Colin Coates was sent off on 65 minutes.

But Crusaders kept battling and they won a penalty on 89 minutes only for Martin Donnelly to hit the crossbar.

However, Rainey levelled in injury-time after great work by Donnelly.

Rabotnicki manager Zoran Stratev lost his composure after the Crusaders' equaliser and was ordered to the stands by the referee.

Skonto Riga 1-1 Derry City

Former Hibernian striker Tam McManus scored his first goal for Derry City to secure a valuable draw away to Skonto Riga in the Europa League.

McManus headed in the crucial equaliser from Mark Farren's cross in the 44th minute to give the Candystripes what could prove to be an vital away goal.

The Latvians had led from the 17th minute through a diving header scored by Igor Kozlovs.

The second leg is at Derry's Brandywell ground on Thursday, 23 July.

FC Honka 2-0 Bangor City

Bangor City retained slim hopes of Europa League progress by losing 2-0 to Finnish side FC Honka in the second qualifying round, first-leg tie.

The Welsh Premier League club trailed 1-0 at half-time to midfielder Joel Perovuo's 15th-minute strike and Rasmus Schuller struck in the 74th.

Bangor are Wales' only hope in Europe with Llanelli and The New Saints out.

Rhyl also lost their Champions League qualifier home leg 4-0 on Tuesday against Partizan Belgrade.
