hello guys wonderin if you can help me. I am interested in this dvd player from maplins. price is £40. I was wondering if this will support movie playback from usb which have been download from torrents. I understand the movie files are in Divx Format which it says it support the part which i dont understand is mpeg 4 palyback are these files also im mpeg 4 and how can you check if the files are in mpeg 4 format.

Also is it worth getting this dvd player as i cant be asked burning dvd's onto a dvd. I do not want to get a media player as they are going from over £100 which is too much.

I don't own that player so I wouldn't like to say the maximum size it takes. You will have to ask in Maplin if no one else here has one.

You will have to format the drive with a Win98 boot disc or a program like partition magic as XP doesn't allow you to format from NTFS to FAT32.

I've got the philips dvp5980 which upscales to 1080p, it takes FAT32 formatted 'thumb' drives (I've use a 4Gb sandisk cruzer) and USB HDDs (I've had a 120Gb drive attached without a problem). My mate has the dvp5960 which is exactly the same except it only upscales to 720p/1080i. Both are region unlockable via the remote.

The 5980 is [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-DVP5980-Multi-region-capable-Upscaling/dp/B000Q7ZCO6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1207925642&sr=8-1]£52.99 from Pixmania via Amazon[/ame], the 5960 is [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-DVP5960-Multi-region-capable-upscaling/dp/B000G2Y59E/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1207925642&sr=8-2]£39.99 direct from Amazon[/ame]
