Rumours have been floating for a while and it seems today the rumour is growing stronger that the dreambox 8000 project has now been permanently cancelled. Official confirmation from dream multimedia to follow soon, but for those waiting for the ultimate you may have to get a Reelbox instead :)
http://www.reelbox.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2

Available now and reports are that its working with newcs, mgcamd, cccam. AND...... 6 sat tuners if you want lol.

I'd love one but the missus ain't gonna let me stump up that amount of cash

I'd talked her round to the 8000 so i'm gutted

I read that DM multimedia have been under pressure from the media industry for a good while now. I guess the 8000 is just pushing things too far.

The reelbox looks good, bit on the pricey side though.

Where did you hear about the emu's working with this.
Do you have any links to support being offered?

Yer its the lack of hdmi licence that has made them pull the plug, they just arent going to be granted the hi-def licence :(. Maybe they should just stick with dvi and seperate sound.
As for reelbox I dont have one :p -its just comments discussed privately, but german forums have some support & will give more info from developers. There are some other linux based hd machines, newcs is fairly universal and a common goal to get working (even works with windows), so you will find info but its unlikely in english yet.
However, the new kid that may gain more support could be the new Humax icord-

That is linux based too so there may be more progress soon, but that is not available in the uk just yet.

I'm just mentioning the current rumours and events as I hear, so nothing is in stone. :)
