DM800 with error message: Error1 CA not found

Hi chaps.
I have a friend who got a problem with his DM800.
He has a motorised dish connected and wanted to flash his DM.
The image currently installed is a Gemini Project 2.
In the middle of it, it stopped and now all he gets is this message: Error1 CA not found
He has tried to re-flash his DM using dream up or DCC without any success.
Is it possible to recover from this situation?
He is not 100% sure that his DM is an original but he was told that it was.

PS - His PC cannot connect to the internet so he can only use his laptop and I am not sure if he has a null rs232 cable either.

Error 1 ca is usually when you load a a geniun image onto a clone box, try a clone image but make sure it matches the bootloader. You can buy a usb to rs232 very cheapley.
