Crash/freezing

When I am on the net and I open my favourites to open another site my pc freezes and locks up and the only way I can unfreeze it is to switch off the power by pressing the button. I am running windows 98 with AMD K6, IBM Aptiva. I have done a virus check and scan disk with no probs.
It does't do it every time but I can guarantee it will do it 8-9 times a night in the space of 4-5 hours.

Ignore the post above now as I formatted my hard drive today and reinstalled all my programmes and it seems to be running better now, not crashed or locked up once yet (fingers crossed).

sorry i didnt get back to you but ive been busy with something that needed all of my time.but i would probably have suggested to rebuild the disk any way..it is easier than finding the fault in the s/ware
