CD & DVD can sony dru500 burn + and - formats

hi m8s was thinking of getting the sony dru500 dvd writer i was wondering if it can burn both the plus and minus formats as it says on the advert it can has anyone got the same writer as any info would help or am i better with the pioneer a105 cheers m8s
