Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott have been included in the Arsenal squad for the first time.
The former is just back from the African Nations Cup while the latter only joined training this week after being given a 10-day break following his high-profile move from Southampton.
Adebayor, a striker recently signed from Monaco, is more likely to start at Birmingham but Walcott, 16, could be named on the bench.
These debutants serve as rare good news for Arsène Wenger. He has eight defenders out and Lauren is facing knee surgery that will rule him out for remainder of this season.
The manager will start the Premiership clash at Birmingham with the back four that finished the defeat to West Ham. Therefore midfielders Mathieu Flamini and Seb Larsson will act as emergency full backs. Freddie Ljungberg and Robin van Persie will be rested but at least Francesc Fabregas and Jose Antonio Reyes are back from suspension.
“Emmanuel Adebayor has joined up with the squad,” said Wenger on Friday. “But I don’t know if I will play him yet. Theo Walcott is in the squad as well but he needs a little bit of work.
“Freddie Ljungberg and Robin van Persie are rested because they have played two hard games.
“Nobody is coming back [in defence] so there is not a lot of choice there.”
The current injury list: Ashley Cole (thigh), Sol Campbell (absent) Gael Clichy (foot), Pascal Cygan (hamstring), Lauren (knee), Kerrea Gilbert (back) Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure (African Nations Cup).

Dunno what the lineup will be, maybe:
------------Lehmann------------------
-Flamini--Djourou-Senderos--Larsson---
----------Bert---Diaby-----------------
-Hleb-----------------------Reyes-----
------------Bergy----------------------
----------------Henry-----------------
