British-born entertainer Bob Hope has died at the age of 100. On his 100th birthday, Hollywood named him "Actor of the Century" - the latest in a series of awards making him the Guinness Book of Records' most-honoured entertainer of all time.

Hope, born Leslie Townes Hope on 29th May, 1903 in Eltham, became one of the best-known entertainers of the twentieth-century on both sides of the Atlantic, starring in countless films, and appearing in many NBC television and radio programmes. Hope also toured, entertaining America's armed forces around the world.

His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was four years old. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Hope, their four adopted children, and four grandchildren.
