The BBC has signed a new film deal with movie studio Buena Vista that will bring a whole host of films to the network.
The deal, announced today, covers films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Calendar Girls, Chicago, The Hours and Cold Mountain, all of which will get their terrestrial premieres on BBC One.
In total, over 100 titles will be shown from Disney, Touchstone and Miramax.
"We are delighted to announce this substantial and significant deal," said BBC Controller of Acquisitions George McGhee. "The films offer a fantastic range that will complement the BBC's home-grown output especially around the peak family-viewing periods, over the coming years."
The deal kicks in from end 2004
