Apple TV 2 - not full HD?

The basic Apple TV 2 only supports 720p - does jailbreaking it and loading XBMC give full 1080p?

I wish I could see the difference comparing 720p to 1080p.

Is 1080p worth the extra money? IMO certainly not.

The ATV2 outputs 720p (yes ... even when jailbroken!), it will however handle 1080p videos, but it downconverts them on output.

I have tried spotting the difference on my 40" telly from 8' away using my HTPC and I can see no difference.
I guess if I were using a projector I might notice it though.

Completely gone off the idea now, looking at a xstreamer or nettop... not sure what else there is...
