Apple’s New Set-Top Box To Feature DVR Capabilities, Social, And iPad-Like Interface

New reports claim that Apple is giving the Apple TV another refresh, with DVR capabilities coming to the little black box according to the Wall Street Journal.

While talk of an Apple-made television has been all the rage over the last year or 5, the story took an unexpected twist yesterday when the Wall Street Journal reported that the company is working to revamp its existing Apple TV set-top box.

The report, along with an additionally note today, suggests that Apple is working to offer a redesigned Apple TV set-top box, with DVR features finally being added to the device, years after it was requested by customers. The box would not record content, though, but rather it would stream content as soon as a matter of minutes after it has begun airing on traditional television.

Currently offering streaming of content via iTunes, the Apple TV is on the periphery of Apple’s lineup, offering something that just does not fit with the way most people watch content. This may change if the Wall Street’s assertions are correct.
