Just discovered this free little app when I went for a walk in the forest yesterday and I'm still buzzing off it now It's called JogTracker
Was walking round and my mate said, what if we get lost, and I though, ay, there's probably an app for that, lol... Never tested the GPS out on my phone either, so sat on a log for a bit and found this on the market.
It combines GPS and Google Maps and logs your rout. It is fecking ace!! You select your activity, walking, jogging, etc, there's a good selection to choose from, make sure the GPS has a lock, then just press START and start your activity!!!!! put it in your pocket and for get about it, and just press STOP when finished.
Then it gives you stats, put in your height, weight, and it will calculate average amount of calories you have burned, your speed, time, etc... You can then save it in your profile, and share the map and rout with people on the net, upload it to Facebook and Twitter or what have you.
What stunned me though is when I looked at the rout on on Google Maps, and switched to the satellite view, I couldn't believe how accurately it had tracked it. You can see the picture of the path we were walking on and the line traces it almost exactly... Really buzzing off it, lol...
Have a look at my rout, click on satellite view, zoom in a bit and see what you think... I'm going to be using this on any walk I do now, shops, post office, you name it lol.
