has anyone got any more info on the £99 stb that you buy for keeps that are available at the end of this month?

We all know about them Fartinmartin, just dont want to tell you...

Only kiddin m8, I think that since they are not available yet its hard to know what scope they have. But from what I understand they will be limited to fta channels only, and not have a CAM, so no ability to add subscribed channels. Although it may be possible to add a CAM to it maybe, not sure, but then the cost will be as much as a normal set-top box as it is now.

I think the point of it is to allow access to free digital terrestrial channels only for those who do not want a new t\/, or expense of subscription. Since sooner or later analogue broadcasting will be faded out, and I guess these new boxes will be given out by the beeb to all those who still havn't got one. In the mean time they will sell them and give warnings you and your telly must have it!

Hope thats some help m8.

I didnt realise that set top boxes were available to buy ???..

I managed to secure my second box by some means £40 brand new ...but i am told car boot sales are the only outlet that you can purchase one..
regards Taff

No Taff there talking about the new £99 receivers that have no slots for cards. They just receive the FTA channels however Cam's will be available in the future for them. It's an alternative to subscribing, you own the box then if you decide to upgrade the Digi people supply the CAM.

If anyone knows where I can get a CAM for a Sony ID** it would be appreciated. I dont want to get one from Eye Tea Vee.

Goldberg, search the net for the Aston Seca v1.03 CAM, plenty of satellite shops have them and they work fine in the back of idt\/'s for IT\/ dig. I've seen them going for around 80 squid.

Make sure its the v1.03 CAM and not v1.05, as from what i've read in forums it works better for IT\/ dig.
