hi folks, looking for some help with my laptop which is thinkpad t61 which i bought refurbished with windows 7 preinstalled, however after a while some of my drivers stopped working so i decided to put on a different version of windows, which is where i went wrong as i had not a clue at what i was doing, anyway i got as far as where i was asked where to install the new windows in the HDD which had 3 partitions but no matter which i selected it wouldnt work as it said i hadnt enough free space even tough i the showed about 50gb of free space and this is where i f**ked up as i then deleted the partions and lost all,so now i have no windows however i got into the bios and was able to get the pc to boot via disc but now i face the same question again about having no room for the windows i am trying to put on,is there any easy fix for this or should i take it to an pc repair shop any help appreciated.

if you have no partitions on the drive now then you should be able to just select the free space to install to it.

hi Digger have tried what you said and it does give yo the option of creating a new partition but when i select the one with 74gb free space it tells me there is no space on it so that is where i am stuck at ,the other pic is what i get without the disc in,thanks.

if it was me i would dban it... dariks boot and nuke wipe all hdd clean then install the
new os,that should get back all your partions and that and restore it to what ever size the
hdd is

I have to agree with oneman mate. Try and delete them all from the windows boot disc option. Then just re-create what you need.

I would say that as it is now, its trying to boot from the 'primary' partition! Clearly it cant...

Delete them all and start again mate.

hi lads problem solved i deleted the partitions as suggested and it freed up the 74gb space and thus allowed me to install windows 7 from cd boot, thanks for above help and comments much appreciated
