Windows Blue will include boot to desktop option

According to the Verge, the upcoming Windows Blue update (Windows 8.1) will include the option to boot to desktop, bypassing the current "Modern" UI.
The boot option will send users directly to the traditional desktop they've been accustomed to, skipping over the Modern UI which includes tiles that are better suited to touchscreen environments.

Microsoft will have the option disabled by default, but sources say the option to boot to desktop will be easy to find and enable.

Many of Windows 8's functionality will remain intact with the option enabled, including access to the Charms and Start Screen, as well as search and all other "hot corner" functions.

Also read in another post that the release it scheduled for later in the year.
Am guessing they will tie this in with xbox release some how so they are more compatible

It is really needed. I work retail selling and fixing computers and sales are WAY down. Customers just don't like the start screen.

Yeh i'd agree i think if they done this from the start then it would have sold much better.
The Metro screen is near useless for non touch screens. Speaking of touch screens while on my laptop the other night I was pressing the screen to try and open something and I was wondering why it wouldn't open....it wasn't a touch screen thats why haha!! I know am not the only person to do this. Become so use to touch screens now.

i couldnt agree more, i was looking for a new pc a little while ago, all of them had windows 8 on them, after testing windows 8 i hated the ui and couldnt get on with it, in the end i bought a apple mac.
microsoft really misjudged their customers with this os. they should have made the metro look an add on not the main screen, this way people would have seen their usual home screen and then the cool looking metro interface.
windows 7 for me is the best os so far, win 8 is more like windows me and vista - i dont think it will be around too long
