Hi all,

My VU+ duo using vix has started to become temperamental. Rewinding recorded programmes only works 50% of the time and sometimes the recordings are scrambled halfway in (as if the satellite was losing signal which it never does).

What would everyone recommend for a next level upgrade?

The problems you describe could be a failing HDD or possible image corruption.

If you do want to move on id recommend a VU+ Solo 2 as the best bang for buck at the moment. If you want something a little cheaper then the zgemma dual sat tuner box is also good but this will need an external hdd to record to.

The HDD is only a year old and I reflashed the unit about 3 months ago. I'll try a bit more tinkering then look at upgrading.

When I'm rewinding a programme and then press play it takes me back to the point I started to rewind. To counter this I have to rewind, say 32x speed, then slow this down to 2x speed and press play. Have you heard of this happening before?

I have seen something similar when my Kid was watching a recording of Veggie Tales - and then tried to rewind to a position. It is frequently seen with an accompanying GStreamer error or something like that. I used to get that with a previous image.

Since I have moved to BH 2.1.4 image - I don't see that problem any more. But I got tuner problems now with my BH image - although recently it appears to be getting better - especially if I only stream from the WebIF to a computer.

I am waiting for my new Vu+ Solo2 Se box - from what I have researched - it may be ok. If it is a BUST - then I can still go for the Original Vu Solo 2.
