Hi Lads i haven`t got a blackberry to try, so can somebody report back see if it works, or ill try get me hands on 1 to try , INFORMATION GIVEN FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY

Thought some of you would find it useful, 'they' say it works better than some of the more expensive pieces of equipment/software -

Input your imei code (*#06#) on your keypad
Input your PID Number (usually found on the sticker under the battery
Generate the code
Put a sim card of a network provider, that the blackberry is locked too, it will ask you if you want to enter the code say yes and enter the code generated by the app
The Blackberry can now be used on any network

Disclaimers -

This does not include phones that have been reported lost or stolen to the network provider. You get limited trys at entering the code, I therefore accept no responsibility should you lock your phone, as a result of an incorrect, or continually putting the wrong code in.

The application is straight forward, therefore, I will not be providing help/support to those not able to use it.
The instructions given above work for most blackberrys there are a couple that you need to do something slightly different, therefore google is your friend

Yes its works, I unlocked my son's BB last week using the calculator (found a link in an earlier thread on DW).
If you have the BB software installed on you PC, you can use the the code reader tab in the app to read imei/MEP etc and it will display the required lock code in blue.
Simply insert the new sim and it will ask for the code.

My eldest girl brought my grandaughters' 9800 down to see if I could unlock it.
Spent ages trying to get it to connect to the program, eventually found it was the password lock that was preventing it.

It spat out some numbers including the unlock code. Excitedly I inserted my sim into the phone expecting to see a code input box. Imagine my surprise when instead it showed the new provider and a full signal, the damn thing was already unlocked and I had wasted God knows how long on it.

Was interested to see if it would do the 9800

Yes this works great. Some additional stesp I would add for the BlackBerry 83xx, 88xx, 8900, 9000, 96xx and 9700 to force the unlock:

Be sure to have a SIM card inserted in the device and turn off all network connections
From the homescreen, go to Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card
Type mepd (you will not see any text on the screen while typing)
Type in mep2 (type in mep using the keyboard then press ALT and the number 2 to get mep2)
Enter your provided code in the "Enter Network MEP Code" box and press in the trackball/trackpad to confirm
You should see "Code Accepted" and your device is now unlocked
