Right guys, stay with me on this one! (sure i've said that before now)

This technique is getting more and more popular and some of you might have had this done profesionaly or maybe seen it on TV (I have seen it done on Paul McKenna shows). I have used it on something and it worked for me, so maybe you would like to give it a go - would only take 30-60 mins of your time and it might change your life.

You can use it on a whole host of things, emotion, addictive, depression, anxiety, etc, etc... It works on pressure points but for the cynics and skeptics out there, this is based on 'real' science (those crazy Chinese folk!!).

I ment to make a post on this a while back, but this is the best collection of videos in one place I have found so now is a good time to post.

So take a look and I hope it improves your welbeing.

Good place to start - intro - Science behind EFT

i tried the 'get up' one yesterday as i used to be a morning person but lately still feel tried when i get up.

so i tried it, followed the video done everything and guess what...

i woke up every 30 mins during the night and when it came time to get up i really struggled lol and now feel more tired than normal lol

lol, try is at least a few times before you give up. Think I tried it maybe 3 times before it worked for me...

If it effected your sleep like that then it shows something is happening! ...

lol yeah something happening but totally not what i am wanting lol

i did see this a few years ago however wae paul mckenna when ppl feel hungry to tap to get rid of the craving etc.

Lol, might just be the healing sickness mate.

Anything that starts off with 'Before you read this, realise that you don't need to know precisely how Tapping works' and describes wanting scientific evidence of causality as a 'self limiting belief' makes me very sceptical.

Sorry, but I am steeped in the western tradition of epistemological inquiry and knowledge bourne out of experimentation.

This looks like another technique using the power of suggestion to achieve perceived results.

Can you buy Chi in a can?

If it makes you happy, fine. Just don't give people money to tap you.

Well, that's a very civil responce from a skectic, a refreshing and welcome change...

Here's an article at The Times - You can look at 'What's the evidence' part near the bottom (or read the whole article if you like!) Tapping away at the fear - Times Online

Cynics will be cynics at the end of the day, and like it says in one of the vids, science doesn't even really know how electricity works (ask a scientist the right questions and they will soon run out of answers) - so just becasue you can't buy Qi in a can isn't proof that it doesn't exist.

It's free and there is no harm in trying, and he isn't trying to sell anything on the website as far as I can tell... He's Cambridge educated, lots of positive tesimonies around, it's something that's used by top therapists, so that's good enough for me... Worth a punt...

There's a good article about it here: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) - The Skeptic's Dictionary - Skepdic.com

I love the punchline,

"There's one born every minute and two standing in line to take their money."

...but, as mozr says, if it makes you happy etc.

But there is a classic skeptic's responce, lol... Have you ever noticed how a skeptic website's dialogue is always written in a condescending manor. A skeptic writer's method is always to place themselves above others and look down and scoff at people who think differently to them in an attempt to reinforce their belief structure whenever it is challanged!

No money is being exchanged anywhere by doing it yourself...

I attended an EFT workshop and found it very interesting. I have some notes that explain it very clearly and show all the tapping points, i'll dig them out and post them. :)

Thanks mate, sounds good... Let us know what it helped you with (if you want to) and how it helped you or changed you as well... Be good to hear your story...

Well it helped me with my relationship with my brother. :) But it can be used on any emotionally charged situation.

Basically what you do is you think of something that upsets or angers you, there are a number of key phrases you repeat and you do the tapping in a certain sequence on acupressure points. The longer you spend doing it the more you release the behaviour pattern, until eventually the thought doesn't cause an emotional response anymore.

It can be used on food, alcohol or tobacco addictions, relationship problems, self worth issues, anything you have problems with. The key is to stick with it, depending on how deep seated the issues are you can have amazing results within days, or it might take months.

Cheers, good stuff; used it on a relationship issuse myself that had been lingering for a couple of years and this seemed to help shift things along after 3-4 sessions (self taught)...

Ho'oponopono is great for shifting emotional issues too, you might give that a try. It's a hawaiian emotional clearance technique. I'll post a thread on it :)

Basic Procedure for doing EFT

Step One Identify what the problem is as exactly as possible and take a measurement of how much it distresses you. eg Karen had a fear of heights. In order to get some sort of objective means of assessing the intensity of her feelings she measured herself out of ten.

If ten is a high emotional intensity (feeling strongly emotionally upset, distressed, a strong, painful emotional charge) one is low emotional intensity (only a mild feeling of upset, just slightly distressed, slightly painful).

She imagined herself standing at the top of a building looking down and then assessed her level of fear as eight out of ten.

Step Two Create an affirmation. Here is the classic generic EFT affirmation. "Even though (name the problem), I choose to deeply love and accept myself."

So Karen said out loud with as much meaning as possible "Even though i have a fear of heights, i choose to deeply love and accept myself."

Step Three Tapping, speaking and breathing. Tap the points described below while saying the affirmation out loud. Your intention is important here, don't just say the words in a vague half-hearted sort of way, speak with an intention to heal completely and forever to rid yourself of your distress. The more meaningfully and sincerely you speak the better. Gently tap on each point about six - eight times with the tips of your bunched up fingertips.

Breathe in and out deeply with as much awareness as possible, doing this helps to keep you focused and connected to your body as you proceed.

Step Four Repeat this sequence. Keep tapping until your rating of the problem drops to zero or nearly zero. This could take anywhere between five minutes to twenty minutes of tapping.

Step Five Challenge the results. Attempt to invoke the disturbing feeling. Do the measurement again out of ten. Where do you rate yourself now? Once you cannot recreate the unwanted emotional response (you are getting zero on the scale) you are ready to test the gains in a 'real life' setting.

Step Six If the problem has disappeared congratulations and well done. If the problem is still there, or you are not quite getting the results you really want, look up Emofree.com. Sometimes there are complexities, which need more experience advice.

The Tapping Points

Karate Chop Points Midway along the outside edge of the hands

Top of the Head (TH) Where you sense your crown chakra is

Beginning of the Eyebrows (EB) Where the brow begins above the nose

Side of the Eyes (SE) On the side, aligned with the outside of the eye

Under the Eyes (UE) The flat bony part directly under the pupil of the eye

Under the Nose (UN) Between the tip of the nose and the upper lip

On the Chin Crease (CC) In the chin crease, in the centre

Collar Bone (CB) On each side, in the indentation just below each collarbone curve. Place your index finger in the centre hollow U shaped notch at the top of your breastbone (about where a man would tie his tie). From the bottom of the U, move your forefinger down towards the navel one inch and then go to your right (or left) one inch.

Under Arms (UA) Down four inches from the armpit

Tap solidly with bunched up fingers using the fingertips.
Best to remove glasses, watches and jewellery.
You don't have to be completely exact on the points.
Keep breathing consciously as you do it i.e. don't hold your breath.
We actually want to focus on the negative feeling for the duration of the tapping. This is not to indulge in the feeling, but to activate it so that it can be deactivated.
