I ordered a door last week from B & Q online for £898

I see on the site today. Special offer £758.

This sort of thing pisses me off big time.

what kind of door is that hope its not just a pvc door for that price???

Go down to your local store, lodge the complaint, cancel the door, it was done with a kitchen a few months ago they changed the price pronto

I will do something about it.

The t&c state that this product is made to order and can't be returned unless faulty. If I wait till it's delivered the offer will have ended.

Another thing! they have deducted the money from my card.
It is my understanding that they are supposed to take the money when the goods are dispatched, not before.

The distance selling regs favour B&Q in this situation, made to order items are not covered by the '7 days from receipt' cooling off period. You are covered by the other sections of DSR and the sale of goods act, among others, so if the item is not to spec (e.g. faulty, not the dimentions you ordered etc) you are covered.

If going down to the store fails, when you sign for delivery, make sure you note the goods are 'unchecked', and hope that B&Q's quality control hasn't improved. Of course this won't change that the price will have gone back up after the bank holiday weekend.

As for them charging your card already, they are only allowed to charge your card before dispatch if they say they will before the contract is made (i.e. in the T&C's). Checking the website they state they'll do just that here: _http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/templates/content_lookup.jsp?content=/content/support/policies/terms.jsp#payment

Update:
No joy from initial complaint to B & Q, didn't even answer letter.
So wrote to 'Kingfisher': the owners.
I got a reply from Chief Executive and a refund paid back to my card.

Orederd shed from B&Q online 19th april money taken from card no contact from B&Q rang them 22th may told that a manager would chase up order followed up phone call with email to complain.Today rang again only to be told delivery company closed until monday so will have to get back on monday asked why no feed back about delivery was told "sorry" feed back should have been given.asked about email was told that emails are answered between 7-10 days not what i call customer care.

i ordered a door from them before x-mas, it was wider than the normal size so had to be specially made, waited over two months, i had already fitted the same door but for normal size opening on a different door frame. i complained saying look the customer isnt happy they want there money back and they want the money back for the door that i fitted, after 10 mins waiting i got all my money and the money back for the door i fitted, it wasnt for a customer it was for me. sometimes you just have to twist the truth to get things back

Depending on how you paid most credit cards offer a price match service (havent used the service for a good few years but worth looking into), if something you purchase reduces in price for up to 60 days (depending on card company) the difference will be credited. However PC parts are normally excluded due to the depreciation over such short time.

I'd think about demanding a refund...

What you are entitled to...
  • A full refund if the goods or services are not provided by the date you agreed. If you didn't agree a date, then you are entitled to a refund if the goods or services are not provided within 30 days.

If B&Q drag their feet, and you paid by Visa debit/credit card or MasterCard credit card start a clawback.

Glad you got something back mate.
It does pay to shout a bit sometimes, but it seems customers are having to shout a lot more these days..
