In limbo!
ok im in a bit of a pickle. i am wanting to make the move from wet shaving to electric shaving reason being i begrudge paying £8 for four fusion blades.I have been thinking of getting myself a decent electric shaver for a while but like most things nowadays the choice is staggering and confusing.

now ive been looking at a few today the braun ones look ok with the clean and renew system but then they are £11 for 3 refills so i might as well stay with a wet shaver if i buy one of those.

then there are the philishave cool skin ones which take my fancy as i suffer from razer burn/rash sometimes. ok so the refills for these are £7 but i was considering buying a mosturiser anyway to protect my skin.

so what im after is advice from you electric shaver users out there please.

i have read reviews were some say the braun ones are out standing and others which say philishave are the best you can buy???

so confused please help! :)

i use my mach3 fusion and and my leccy razor, but for me the wet shave is always the best. dont know if it's just me but my leccy razor doesnt get all the hairs from under my chin and i always end up using my mach 3 to give under my chin a once going over lol, plus i always get red marks on my chin/neck from my leccy.

so i only use leccy when i cant be arsed to have a wet one lol

what electric one do you have?

I usually wet shave twice a week with a fusion and use a Philishave in between. Forget about the expensive coolskin ones, they're too much hassle, a basic one with floating heads will do. If you have sensitive skin stay away from Braun. Use a pre-shave lotion (Boots do some cheap but good own brand ones) and use a moisturiser afterwards.

they also have 3 for 2 offers a couple of times a year on shaving stuff so stock up on pre-shave lotion and moisturiser. and save more.

used to use a philishave when I was working but still used a blade twice a week. now that I'm not as active only use my sensor razor twice a week.

hi sargie

this is 1 of those tricky ones its really down to personal choice, i know its difficult cos they are not cheap electric razors.

i normally wet shave once or twice a week and the rest use my electric.

in the many years ive been shaving ive had philips shavers and once had a braun which i didnt like but that was 15 years ago.....

the philips i have at the moment is 3 head HQ6843

u wont get the same shave with electric though bear that in mind whith what ever you get....good luck

thanks for the replys all i have no idea what to do lol. i know electric aint so good as wet but blades are so expensive. ill shop around and see whats what.

I was in your position mate and i have just switched from wet shave to them electric shavers. Granted they do not give the quality of a wet shave but it is really good. only thing is it dont get under the chin very well and first few time you will get rashes but after a while its ok. i been using mine for a week now. use the electric one on weekdays when i havent got time in the morning for a full wet shave. and on weekends just use the mach 3.

You dont get quite as close shave as a razor BUT its not very noticeable. you will still go to work and look as if you have a neat shaven face lol as i need to have.

PS: mine was a present.

I have a Philishave cool skin with the moisturising cream and its ok but have gone back to wet shaving every other day as it took longer or so it seems.

As hatab said it is down to personal choice I have owned a braun in the past and that seemed to give the same result as the philips.

The Mrs bought me a Phillips Cool Skin last year.

I found the shave to be extremely good.
The pack came with:
2 x Nivea Balm Sachets
2 x Nivea Fresh Gel Sachets

To be honest, I've not used it a great deal, as I prefer my Mach 3 Turbo purely because I shave faster with a wet razor in the shower.

The Phillips can be used in the shower as well, but it tends to wash away the lotion.

In the limited time I've used it, I've went through 2 of the sachets.
When I buy more, I'm going to go for the Balm ones, as I found this to sooth my skin more effectively.

I've charged it twice since last Christmas, but as I said...it gets very limited use.

I haven't had a rash/burn when I use it, as the lotion helps in assisting the razor to glide across my face.

As I said...I prefer my Mach 3, but if I was in the market for another leccy razor, then I would go with the Phillips Cool Skin.

I also have the Cool skin shaver and also prefer a wet shave. The coolskin is a good shaver though provided you clean the heads and rinse it through as recommended each time you use it. Gives me a good close shave although the odd neck hair does seem to be missed which can cause irritation.
