Hi folks,

My phones been playing up for a while, rebooting when people call me and just doing funny stuff. I thought it might be the memory card so I formatted it and even removed it. I went to put TomTom v6.01 back on and it wouldn't work...it seems to install ok, I copy over the maps and run the application. The TomTom screen comes up with the rotating globe and that's it...just sits there and does that.

I thought it might be the memory card so bought another one and it does the same thing. So I reset the phone to factory defaults (soft-format) and tried again and it's still the same.

I'm using the software and map from the sticky at the top of this section. It worked prior to mucking about.

If anyone had this before and knows how to get round it, I'd be greatful of some help. :)

Update

So...I've updated to the latest firmware and it's done a complete format during the process. And still does the same thing! So fookin annoyin'!

Been using TT v6.01...does anyone have any other versions I could try?

there if a 6.020 out now i would think a google of it will find it some where but i think you need to have 6.010 on and up grade i have a few tt6 i will up it to night when i get in if some one dose not beet me too it first....

Devilfish i had the same prob with my n95 what i did wrong @ 1st was i , made a folder called it tomtom 6 on the mem card and put all the tomtom files inside that , then i installed the tomtom sis file also into the mem card ,TO MAKE THE tomtom WORK , I DELETED THE FOLDER ON MY MEM CARD , ALSO UNINSTALLED THE AUCTAL PROGRAM "SIS" FILE I THEN JUST PUT THE TOMTOM FOLDER AND THE OTHER FOLDERS STRAIGHT ONTO THE MEM CARD AS THEY WERE THEN REISTALLED THE SIS SELF INSTALL TO MY PHONE , THIS THEN WORKED NO HANG UP
HOPE U GET IT SORTED M8
REGARDS BIFFO

Thanks biffo, I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correct but I'll try creating folders and stuff and try to confuse it...lol...then do it the proper way.

Hi m8 i had this exact same problem as you on my n73 did my head in eventually what i think did it for me was to format card in phone not in card reader then i installed a different version than the one i was trying previously. I got it from this section it is v.6.01,S60V3,Symbian OS9.1.SIS AND WORKED FOR ME 1ST TIME NO SPINNING TOMTOM LOGO HOPE THIS HELPS M8.

That's the version I have Glassman. I don't have a card reader so the memory card is always in the phone, using a USB cable to copy stuff over.

I've got it on my old 6680 so can use that but it's a brick and you can see the petrol gauge dropping when you take it in the car lol.

EM! Thats strange devilfish would have thought this would have worked for you m8. Especially as you have the same version, the only other thing that i might have done differently would to be copied all files across through card reader then poped it back into phone then went into application manager and run the sis file. Hope this helps you a little bit more m8..

Just got back in, had to use my old 6680 but no, didn't get it sorted.

Will probably look again in a few days as I've got a lot on at the moment.

Thanks for your help though peeps :)

When you get chance mate give this way ago.

Open tom tom folder, should b bout 7 folders in there, goto edit,
then select all,
then click edit again
now click copy.
Open screen for your mem card in phone and just paste it in there. ( not in a folder, just str8 onto the card )

Obviously you have to then copy ya map folder over after that.

This is the way i had to do it in the end coz i had trouble installing it last year.

Let us know how u go.

Cheers.

no mate, no attachments

when you have downloaded tom tom, open that folder, should be folders in there like LICENCES , RASTER , PALM, PRIVATE etc. then select edit , select all etc etc as above.

Ah ok I see now :)

There is only 4 folders in the one I've got; zip, voices, tomtom & raster.

Any chance you could upload what you have to a file hosting site or something like that please?

M8 i would if i could, aint got a clue how to.LOL Have you got some pointers ?

Go here... www.megaupload.com

Add your tomtom folders to the one zip file and select it via the browse button.

Give it a description and click Send.

You'll get a link when it's done, just post the link and I'll be able to download it.

Ok cheers will sort that. just have a try though with the copy you have again the way i have described as it should work.

Still no joy!

Formatted memory card and uninstalled any rouge applications still on phone and rebooted.

Connected usb cable and selected Mass Storage.
Copy and pasted all the files from your link above onto the root of the memory card.
When I disconnected the cable, it automatically asked me if I wanted to install TomTom, said yes and then it said 'unable to install'.

I tried my .sis file that I had and it installed ok but still hangs at the spinny world bit. Do you recon my .sis file is corrupt?

I've upgraded the firmware to the latest last week...do you think this has something to do with it?

Looks like I'm going to have to use the old 6680 again today lol.
