This might be obvious and if it is I do apologise but:

The whole idea is to backup the current updated windows drivers and your hardware drivers to a folder to use should you ever need to like when you install a fresh version of windows.

The command is doing exactly what you are asking of it, its finding all windows drivers and your hardware drivers and its backing them up to the folder you have specified.

Whether it finds 10 drivers or 110 is nothing to do with the command, that is the amount of drivers that you have on your system.

So its done its job its backed them up for you to use when you need to.

Save the file somewhere because those same drivers that you have backed up can even be used when you install the new windows 10.

I have saved them @idrob :)

surely mine is wrong though ? Compared to everyone else's

I intended to do a clean install to rid of all the preinstalled cr@p that the manufacturers install, in my case Dell
but hopped it would save all my touchscreen, audio drivers etc etc, although I can get them all from dell site 1 by 1 this way would be a helluva lot quicker :)

but 7GB seems extreme so I think must be wrong ?

seems massive size never had anywhere near it in the past

try a 3rd party driver updater & see what size it backs up

There shouldn't be any preinstalled crap in system 32 but if you're not sure about it do what I have been doing for years before I came across this Dism command.

Copy the whole sub directory of windows/system 32 save it to a USB stick, then when you've installed your new version of windows and you find that it has given you generic drivers just point it to where you saved the drivers.

That way you know 100% that it will only install what you want it to install

if you've never done that before I'm sure we would all be more than happy to guide you through it step by step.

These are the 6 drivers I normally have generic drivers for until I point windows to where the drivers are
