New patch for TM5402

Well, are we finally getting somewhere:Biggrin2:
Have only tested for few minutes and must admit my main interest is cccam, but S-y italia is clearing instantly, transponders seem to be locking quicker on channel change( again only tried a few) and hardstation is back on!

Amazed nobody else has posted regarding this new patch after all the negative comments we have dished out to Phantom/Technomate; am I the only member with a 5402HD receiver:confused:

Hi linslademan et al,

I think it's because everyone is really fed up having to write the same negative feedback for every new patch that is released... especially when we don't know exactly what they have/have not done to them... is it some big secret...?

Myself personally... I cannot see any difference when comparing this new patch to the previous four or five patches... all I ask for from whoever is compiling/writing/editing the O/S and patches for our Technomate receivers is... please please go back and correct all of the basic functions/principles that a satellite receiver should perform before you add all of the nice extras... it's not too much to ask for... is it...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Could not agree more. Same situation here with 6900. Could at least put a note in with patch to say what it consists of. If nothing else it would give us a first thing to test.

On hindsight, you are all probably right to make those comments.
Do you think that phantom/Technomate don't tell you what patch consists of is that perhaps they are not allowed to anymore due to cccam, keys info etc... on released patches?

Hi again linslademan et al,

I can remember when we used to get a lot of subtle/cryptic/indirect comments posted in the forum threads concerning the new patches... hinting as to what had been upgraded/fixed/added... at least then we could make an informed guess...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Thought of this. But a typical note could read one or all of the following:-
8281 problems- fixed
8281 Sync problems-fixed
Faster opening of channels
Dish motor scanning problems-Fixed
Freezing on French channels- fixed
Weather Plugin-Fixed
Utube problems- fixed

Anyway enough of this and down to the business in hand and test the Patch.

Its usually because Phantom/TM themselves dont seem to know whats new - they seem to be just messing about with the patches - just like rank amateurs - and hoping something 'MAY' happen for the best! lol!!
Thats the IMPRESSION we are CONSTANTLY getting!
Its all as has been said before, that in the 'old days' - of DM & Magic, we always felt that the patches had been thoroughly tested at THEIR end first, BEFORE they ever even considered actually releasing them!:Biggrin2:

I have to agree 100% it's as if the posters (what ever the name on the patch) are just passing on the patch with no idea as to what has been added or fixed in it. The question in my mind is is Phantom (or Phantoms if there is more than one) the originator of the patch or a middle man?
I'm not going to raise the "is this receiver better than that receiver" but take a look at the Spiderbox patches, they ALL come with an explanation of whats been corrected or added there is NO doubt about what a new patch does and this should be the same with all receiver patches.
To continually release patches and leave it to the end user to find out what has been updated and what has not been updated is simply at the best sloppy presentation and at the worst a cover up that only very minor updates have been done.
Why are patches so frequent? good basic solid software only rarely needs updating, not once a week but only when a change is truly required, ok a lot of patches might fool the novice into thinking how well we are looked after but when experienced members claim time after time after time that requested updates have not been done I just cant see the justification for these "no improvement" or "minimal improvement" patches.
Just a simple explanation with each patch would allow our members to VERIFY what has been done, or maybe Phantom(s) wants to keep us in the dark?

Could one of the more technical or senior members be kind enough to test patch too and feedback too.
I am pretty much a novice so would really appreciate all comments:Biggrin2:
Saving up for a VU+ box by the way, getting fed up with all this constant ambiguous information from Technomate/phantom whoever they are!
Naffed off of wasting time each month loading/unloading untested software!!!!

I've static 28.2 with 5402 HD and I think I'm running phantompatch 118 and do the blind scan and I find after I had a hardware malfunction in warranty the box I'm running is going well.
I realise the more experienced on here like a bit more in depth analysis but as a intermediate user with TM 5402, Spiderbox 9960 and Dreambox clone. I still find 5402 easiest to operate.
I feel that i do not need a 7 day EPG i buy a paper or the weather I just look out the window and its still raining so these things are only useful if like the channels are freezing on you're box etc.
Are we sometimes not asking to much when with normal things you buy you only get 1 years guarantee unless you buy added years and no after care service after a year.
To me guys for a newbie or intermediate It's still in the top 5 of boxes out there especially for £139 ono.

unless a write up is released with a patch, ive stopped posting about the releases on my blog, it may not be the busiest place on the net, but when i post a patch with 'no info attached' i generally get a good hundred or so emails asking 'what has changed'

if Phant0m wants me to start posting patches again on my blog, then start posting a writeup with them, as ive no longer got the enthusiasm to hunt for whats changed any more

Same here. I will not put my time anymore into finding out the specials. After all the time used for testing patches I finally got fed up with it.
Nowadays, I fire up a channellist , cccam plugin and a good stable patch. If orf & cccam are ok i'm happy. No blindscan and extras to test.

Same here. I am just waiting for a miracle to happen. That's why I am running on 115.
Until I save for another receiver (vu duo when they go cheap as used ones on e bay)
Although vu+ 2 seems quite good to say the least!

Hi manic,
Can certainly confirm that transponders are locking much quicker on the ones I was having issues with on previous patches!
