Five arrests made following investigation into satellite card sharing website

On Wednesday 10/02/2010 officers from Hampshire Police and the Metropolitan Police acting on intelligence supplied by FACT executed four simultaneous search warrants at addresses in Middlesex and Hampshire as part of an investigation into a satellite card sharing website. Four men were arrested and large quantities of computers, satellite cards and card readers were seized along with financial documentation and other correspondence. Police were supported by Investigators from FACT.

All four men were interviewed and bailed to return pending forensic examination of the seized evidence.



On Thursday 11/02/1010 officers from Wiltshire Police investigating an eBay seller executed a search warrant at an address in Highworth, Wiltshire. A 35 year old male was arrested and a large quantity of satellite equipment was seized along with a computer and other paraphernalia. Police were supported by Investigators from FACT.

The man was interviewed and bailed to return to Swindon Police Station.

Well I suggest people pull the plug for a bit and have a clean up of there pc,s roud: I for one have noticed alot of new members flooding the sat section and they seem to already have a good knowledge of what to do, so why are they here?

That,s why I always pay for a feed and would never sell on unless I,ve stated in other posts a close nit server family etc Friends.


I hope this situation does not get over exaggerated but I would be careful if your a server to be careful who your feeding.

ISP Traffic monitoring.. Not difficult to check and see what ports are being used.

Thats why you should use a BB PAYG dongle for your box...

You would think that if they have 1000's of clients there BB usage would be a good indicator that something dodgy was going on?? I only have a 10Gb allowance which I would imagine getting blown out the water with over 1500 clients feeding off it !??!?!?!? It's used up enough with my missus spending half her life on bloody facebook !!!!!

You can use any port for cs... I doubt very much these people were caught by their ISP monitoring ports used and making an investigation out of it...Just because 12000 is in use doesn't mean its always gonna be running CCCAM....

They were brought down by their own greed and the way they advertised their "services"

thats why just a few family & friends sharing is the best and you can even do it over a vpn for even secure traffic

someone on a CS site advertises for clients, someone offers to pay for a line, details are given, DNS is resolved, IP is traced, ISP is contacted, person is identified, its wouldnt be rocket science to find exactly where a share comes from if you have the ISPs on your side, which the police would

peoples greed is what does it, get a gorup of 4-10 TRUSTED friends / family and make your own private network, with NO default settings, using the right cams etc, and youd use less bandwidth than if you surfed the net for an hour

this is just going to be a repeating circle over the forth coming months as people try to find a way to watch shows/films that are repeated 3 times a day.

I can understand people setting up pvt networks for friends/family. but giving your details to someone on the web, paying them and if they get done also has your ISP, thats to risky for me.

I think the more that jump on this band wagon then Sky will do somethink about it. I have heard they can stop the C/S with a new card and many thought this would happen when the "white card" was sent out. So in time sky could just go down this root, they have the money to do it, they seem to like sending cards out for fun.

just think about it before you set up a pvt network. 1 month someone doesn't pay, you remove their IP from the system. You fall out over it, as your meant to be mates after all. Then he blows you up.

Is the other method of buying a PAYgo bb stick ok and get around the issue ? Then again couldnt they just check whos been Paypalling them lately and get name/address and still boom?!

Wouldnt you just be topping it up all the time or is it a very small amount of data being downloaded ? would hate to keep topping it up monthly...
