Hey guys

I'm taking my son to see the Manchester v Spurs game on Sunday for his birthday as he has supported them for years and still never been there. We will be travelling up from London Euston on virgin trains. To enable me to plan properly in advance could anyone help me with a few questions:

1. Am I right in saying I need to purchase a return ticket to Manchester Picadilly and then there is a matchday train I can purchase a ticket when I arrive to get us to football ground station?

2. Am I likely to get a seat on the train? long journey to be standing!

3. I see you can attempt to reserve seats so what stops other people just sitting in the seat you reserved?

4. How long is it likely to take from final whistle to back at Manchester Picadilly as I can reserve seats for journey home?

5. It seems first train arrives at Picadilly about an hour before ko. Will we have enough time to go into the club megastore?

Hope someone here can help. Thanks in advance...

Yes train to Picadilly/ not sure about train to ground??

If you've reserved seats, you can get the people removed by the ticket man.

It's about 3 miles from Picadilly to Old Trafford.

Hope this is of help :)

Museum closes 1 hour before kick off.

Catch Metrolink tram from Manchester Picadilly (platform is inside station near front entrance).

Either.....catch tram towards Altrincham, get off at Old Trafford, 20 mins walk to ground.

Or.........catch tram towards Eccles, get off at Salford Quays, 10 mins walk to ground (this is my preference)

After match, about 40 mins to 1.5 hours to get back to Picadilly on tram (depending on how many minutes you leave before final whistle).

Many thanks. What about the train from manchester picadilly to man utd football ground station? Seems to be run by northern railways?

Trams are quicker, cheaper and about every 10-15 mins.

If it's only 3 miles from the train station to the Ground, would it not be better jumping in a taxi?

I thought about that but if it's anything like White hart Lane. On match days it'll take 2 hours to do those 3 miles

Looking into it the train runs every 20 mins and takes 10 mins. Any thoughts on this? presumably takes you right to the ground
