The wife has a 2013 yaris, when she bought it the salesman tried to sell her a 3 year service package (think it was £400 +) I told him NO, I had loads of mates in the motor trade who would do that. The thing is he mentioned to her that the Toyota 5 year warranty would be void if non genuine parts were used, WHICH THEY HAVE, and they (the Toyota dealer) didn’t service it and check it on their computer on the third service which is coming up. I think this is a load of bull$hit. Does anyone know/Can anyone confirm what the conditions of the 5 year Toyota warranty are. TIA.

I use autodata (l pay for these days ) as there service sheets are spot on , l used genuine oils from the agents too , its as cheap as anywhere else , l don't always you agent filters as using OEM quality is as good
I do use all agent stuff on vauxhalls tho that have life time warranty as there on the ball with that
I even write lookers invoice numbers on my invoices as l have had one customer told is warranty was void ,
I have the phone them and give them a bollocking over that , there happy to take my money on parts but scare customers
I stamp books and give them the service sheet , can't have you then

It must be carried out by a vat registered garage to dealer spec (eg replace correct filters for service type) using genuine or oem parts..

Apologies for the very late reply,

What a load of bollox. Yes use genuine parts if you wish but make sure you get your service book stamped after every service that is your proof. :)

Thanks for confirming the dealers bull$hit, yes I’ve made sure of that every year with the service book

Cheers, I’ve bought the genuine parts (not from the dealer that sold her the car) and kept all the invoices for them, I’ve also got the garage that serviced the car to include on the invoice that genuine parts/oil were used and the Toyota part numbers.

Really, VAT registered, not sure if they are, it's an MOT centre if that makes a difference, in the service manual it doesn’t say to dealers spec it gives what should be done at what mileage and mentions genuine parts.

Thanks for the reply’s lads.

Just ignore the commission selling salesmen m8. Get yourself some good breakdown cover ie through your bank and keep that book stamped at the garage of your choice and state you want genuine parts if you wish. Please bare in mind though your service could be slightly dearer for this option. You bought your car from that garage that should entitle him to a free holiday somewhere I suppose. Good luck and tell your good Lady not to worry too much. :)
