How would even the most seasoned smoker react to someone they believe shouldn’t be smoking?
As almost everyone on the planet already knows, smoking is deadly. Even smokers themselves, although they choose to ignore their better judgement, are aware of the harmful effects of cigarettes. According to the American Lung Association,
There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous.
Our society has inarguably become desensitized to scenes that once were considered shocking, graphic, or offensive. However, the sight of a child smoking a cigarette will still cause the most calloused to gasp. What would happen if a child walked up to you, with cigarette in hand, and asked you for a light. How would you handle the situation if you were a smoker? Would you consider yourself a hypocrite warning a child about the dangers of smoking and then taking a drag in the next breath?
In the experiment shown below, two children point out how even the most knowledgeable person can still have complete disregard for their own health.
Maybe it’s time some of us take heed to our own advice.
