Hi all, back and cold symptoms subsiding, yesterday I looped in to my setup my new TM 6900 super+, my back is not yet strong enough to replace the dish end but at least I can try out the TM.
First impressions, was not exactly bowled over by the SD picture performance, my Strong 4375 connected by RGB scart gave better results on my Panny 1080p Plasma, this surprised me as the new TM is connected by HDMI lead and is supposed to be upscaled to a high standard, the TM video setting was left as is at 1080i. The channel list frequencies for the HD channels on Canal Digital were incorrect giving me the "no or bad signal message", a fresh download of the correct frequencies for the HD channels brought them back on line.HD picture quality was superb.
I then connected by USB a Western Digital 1T extrernal hardrive (Mybook) to the TM, the hard drive was already formated to fat32 so I just had to use my laptop to make it active as per Technomates instructions, I rebooted the TM and it seen the drive I then asked it to format the drive, it done it in about a minute, all ok.I then recorded 5 mins of the Middlesborough v Wigan match on Canal Digital in HD, no problem played it back perfectly.
No problem at all with my Diablo 2.2 updated to 2.3.
As soon as my back is better I will sort out the dish end proper and make it a proper motorised receiver.I'm well pleased with the receiver especially now I have a PVR as well, shame the SD performance is not a little better,I suppose I could try RGB scart to watch SD instead of HDMI or even the component connections.
Anybody else tried this new Super+ yet ?, waiting for the new patches now!
