new 4D team image

& if you do want to downgrade back to 24-04 perhaps you should revert it back to the previous bootloader..
(as the 4D image includes a new cfe.bin)

well thought out as usual lol

So does that mean this could be the reason our installs our buggy? I certainly didn't do this myself, but I did notice that Richard was messing about with different boot loaders.

What boot loader do I need to use if I want to revert to the 24/04/2012? And why does the HDD need reformatting? It's just a file system for recordings, right? All the "system code" goes onto flash, doesn't it?

I'm sorry mate I don't know 100%
I found the file this morning with that write up
Its a new file as the file had been there about 4 hours

BTW, another failed recording... :(

Last night was recording a movie for my little'un, and this morning I wanted to record F1 practice (both cleared channels). So, recording 1 seems to have gone OK, and Tuner B tuned over to record the F1. I came down to check if the F1 was recording, and it seemed to (the clock for the F1 recording in "list" mode seemed to say so), but when I changed the channel over to the F1 channel (therefore switching over to Tuner B), the screen went blank and this also screwed up the recording (the timer stopped moving)! I could go back to the other movie channel on Tuner A (which would work) but when I returned to the F1 (Tuner B) it would be blank. The only way to get picture back on the F1 was to stop the recording, flick back to the movie channel, and then back to the F1, which was now using Tuner A.

This has happened with EVERY IMAGE SO FAR. Therefore, THIS BOX CANNOT BE SOLD AS A TWIN TUNER BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT! You're better off buying a box that does what it says on the tin, because this one certainly can't!

This box shouldn't be sold, period and neither should any other linux box from TM while they don't have the skilled engineers to drive them..

Trading standards should be called in so they can shut this cowboy outfit down once and for all. They continue to show nothing but contempt for the consumer and this should not be allowed. We can no longer excuse your actions because the c/s is good.

Oh and by including 1channel with your image you are in fact commercialising copyright material for your own gain.
It's one thing for an end user to install it, but to install it as a part of your end product is not only insulting to the author of the s/w [as you've not asked their permission], but is totally illegal.

There's a fine line between legal and illegal with this kind of product and you just stepped over it buddy boy..
[I couldn't resist the RoboCop quote there lol]

Richard, do everyone a favour and just fcuk off thanks. You don't seem to know or practice any of our trade laws.
You should be on the Rogue Traders wall of shame forever.

So, what is everyone going to replace their TM box with...?
Perhaps a fleshlight so you can at least fcuk it more than it fcuks you :D

Does anyone know what the kernel version *should* be, then? I've just discovered that you can tell the kernel version by going to: Menu > Information > About

My kernel version is 2.6.18
Enigma: Jul 17 2012
last upgraded: July 19 2012 02:54:39

The reason I posted that, and am asking others to post theirs, is to see:
A) If I have the latest bootloader/Kernel (I'm pretty sure Richard loaded the latest boot loader himself)!
B) If upgraded the bootloader/kernel AFTER doing the image upgrade is a problem (my last upgraded date shows that the image was done by myself, so the bootloader (if done!) was done afterwards

I still don't see why the HDD needs to be reformatted either. Does that mean that using my networked 3TB is no longer a good idea (was ok when using the 24/04/2012 image)? I've got a 500Gb 2.5" laptop drive that I could try to rule that out too. I'm not too keen to do the bootloader, image and disk formatting from scratch though.

the kernel has always been the same numbers, but even though its reported as being the same, there ARE differrences in the kernel files, which i pointed out a long time ago about the different images appearing, and pointed out that they WERE NOT all compatible with each other

for a month i had a box that was a brick, from playing with new drivers, and i tried EVERY bootloader AND kernel file that exists, and said that for the (now older) new drivers to work, that a new kernel file would also need to be created

i was told that i was using wrong bootloaders etc, so i gave up, untill this image appears, with a new kernel file, and suddenly, my box is now able to run with the older drivers that left it bricked, which all along i said was the issue

when using equipment like this, incorrect information is worse than no information at all

i have NEVER reformatted my hdd since the day it was put into the receiver, last october

Is anyone having a problem with the remote control working on this image. Sometimes it works & sometimes nothing

Stav, I had this last night. The remote just wouldn't work, although you see the red dot appear in the VFD when you pressed anything on the remote, so it quite obviously was receiving the IR signal from the remote. Interestingly, I could still control some things using the virtual remote in the web control panel. That might help anyone reading this thread to get to the bottom of the problem.

Stav, do you now see why I said to avoid this image? It's the worst I've had!! Another bug I noticed last night (which never happened on other images) was a crash whilst just simply watching a channel (not touching the remote, or anything). And another bug was that I'd get a timeshift error every time I zapped to a new channel. It was complaining about not being able to access the timeshift path, which was otherwise accessible from other menus (etc I could see all the movies in that folder, etc). Today, after a reboot, I don't get that error.

It's all very weird!

Just as I thought, digidude. About the only thing that I could think may be an issue is the partition type, but the networked drive is using GPT ext4, so I can't see this being any issue.

Regarding your other comments about the bootloader and kernel, are you saying that there's no sure way of knowing which version I'm running? Do you think it's worth me ensuring I follow their advice and use the right bootloader, or are you not convinced they've fixed those PVR problems?
