please help me. im from austria and i cannot purchase a sky d*g*tal card.

i have read up before flooding the message board with questions. this did help me, but left a few gaps.

1. to view sky i need a sky d*gibox which i can buy anywhere, true/false?

2. do i need to make a card AND enter the codes by remote?

3. what is the difference between DBMG and DBMG2.

thanks already, and i would really like to know if anyone has actually already managed to get it working WITHOUT having a real card.

Fristly m8 i do not know if sky digital do cover austria i mite be wrong ? But if not you will have to get a original sky card that comes with the stb as there are no cracks as yet, Sorry pdc Gazer.

Sky digital uses four transponders on the Astra satellite at 28.2 degrees East.
Looking at the footprint would suggest that you are going to need at least a 1.5 metre reflector. In other words the 50cm one you get supplied with the box is only good for the UK and Northern France, Holland etc.
Take a look at the footprint at:
web page

Remember that with digital it's no good thinking you can put up with average to poor reception as it requires a minimum carrier to noise ratio and if you are not above that threshold you get nothing.

WOW Rascals Knowledge is impressing me more and more.

but he is right it all depends if you are in the astra footprint and the size of your dish to recieve it.

hope this helps you out (Nice 1 rascal ;) )
