hi all
this recipe i got from the internet i copied an paste the basics of it and keep it in my recipe folder on my desktop.
ellie1998 and i have had this, and in our opinion its really really lovely. hope you think so too. best served with crusty warm french bread ( they say floating on top with guyerre cheese but we just dip-n-go)

FRENCH ONION SOUP

Ingredients

5 onions

3 garlic cloves

20g/¾oz butter

2 or 3 glasses of red wine

750ml/1¼ pint fresh beef stock

4 tbsp balsamic vinegar

2 shots of brandy (optional)

salt and pepper

10g/½oz flatleaf parsley

METHOD

Peel and thinly slice the onions and garlic.
Then using the butter sauté in a large fryingpan for 15-20 minutes, until brown.
( other recipes say simmer for about 45 mins but i think thats too long)
transfer when ready to a big saucepan
Stir well before adding the red wine, stock, vinegar and brandy.
Bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 minutes minimum and again other recipes say alot longer
so again , its personal choice.
