you must edit your boot partition to uart shell read about
Identifying and Making Use of Debug Interfaces (UART, JTAG, etc)

I guessed the boot partition that you were referring to was CFE, right? If so, replacing CFE in NOR flash might be possible. However, there is another CFE on NAND flash as well and this one is encrypted with key inside the CPU. Do you think that replacing only one CFE on NOR flash would help?
