No you cannot. Why do you ask? What do you want to fix by using an image for another receiver.

as openeight is specially for octagon and i need to try it
i here that if the processor is nearly the same it may go

The drivers and bootloaders come into play. They expect certain names file/folder structures. You can get away with it when the box is the same but sold under different names. But not on the Vu/Octagon.

You may be able to compile an openeight image for the Vu.
