A British couple have been found dead in their apartment on the Spanish island of Tenerife.
Their bodies were discovered after police were called to the apartment in the resort of Playa de las Americas.
Neighbours had reported bad smells coming from the premises. Police said there were no signs of a break-in and no arrests have been made.
Initial examinations suggest the as yet unnamed man, 57, and woman, 69, could have been dead for at least five days.
They were found in the sitting room and bedroom respectively of the apartment in the Residencial Los Cardones complex.
A police spokesman said he believed the couple lived in the resort and were not just there on holiday.
The police added that "no lines of inquiry are being ruled out for the moment".
The Foreign Office said it had been informed of the deaths and was providing consular assistance to next of kin.
