is there any way of unlocking a 1st generation iphone? I am afraid to sync it with itunes in case it fries it. any experts as I know nothing about iphones

By"unlocking" do you mean from a network operator? Is it worth it?

no mate just to get it back online. it is stuck in reboot mode

Do you tryed to restore it in Recovery mode or DFU mode?
