i have read today ntlworld as from jan 2002 will no longer be free isp, so that didnt last long mind you i am not supprised they loosing so much money its a way of recoperating some of their losses !! anybody know of a decent 0800 isp ?

Hatab, what do you mean 0800 ?? I can't think of any ISP's that do 0800 with no charges at all...)apart from NTL (currently)..??).
I think you'll find that you're going to have to pay somewhere along the way, either for the calls you make or a subscription fee to the ISP. There are alot of ISP's that offer services in both catagories, but I pressume the latter will cover what you need...? I use BT Openworld/Internet, have done for nearly three years. Why not stick with NTL until they tell you how much their going to charge? I pressume that it will be about the £10/mth level (if, as and when they start charging..??), that's about where most ISP's pitch the start point for 'no call charges' services.
See what develops......

It looks like £10 pm but if existing user then £5 pm for the first year. i know what u say but when its been free.....i suspect like many people if i have to go back to subsciption ill go to broadband.

www.free24-7.net.

24/7 unmetered access for £ 7.99 a month.

cheapest by far unless anyone else knows of anything cheaper. you only have to use it for a month at a time as well.

4 hour disconnection and pretty quick line. i've used it for a month and its much better than freeserve which is what i used previously.

Themoose you are a GOD !! Nice one for that suggestion I have taken it up and like you say it is a BARGAIN !! I cant understand how they can offer it so cheaply where did you find these guys out ?? But to be honest I cant see them stick to this price for long... But it will do for now - I would take my hat off to you if I was wearing one... Thanks again.

Hi Guys

I was thinking of changing ISP to Free24-7.net as Freeserve is no longer doing free surftime.

Can I get any feedback from any of you that already use them to how good they are.

I see that there are at least 2 satisfied customers.

Cheers Chaz

I reccomend the Free 24, but all I can say is be quick as there are limited places available.. It has a V.Reliable connectoin and good download speeds. Havent had many problems as yet....

Cheers skanksterman, several others have also said its a good service as well. So have signed up. Seems ok so far.

Just to clarify about NTL. If you are on their cable network then you will come under their new charging scheme. If, like me, you pay your line rental to BT & pay NTL £15 per month for calls then there will be NO changes to the service & you will also continue to receive 24/7 free internet connections. This info is from NTL customer services on 12/1/2002.

Been using free 24-7 now since it started and it's great value but over the last week or so it's been getting more difficult to get connected during the evenings.
