I am a new member, just retired from work, & getting into satellites, trying to understand the language / terms used it is like a foreign language at the moment, so reading all the info I can, trying things on my box, but thats the only way I can do it. When I complete a task, try something new, its another little leap forward. One day I will probably be able to help someone else, but until that time I dont want to put out posts for the sake of it. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Totally agree with this. As a noob to all this, and just restarting after the best part of a year most of the stuff is new to me.
A few pages from this site were in my favourites along with some of Ratz bouquets in my documents. Although I don't know that much, I'm a firm believer in doing lots of reading and even more trying things out, until you finally pick it up. I don't have any expertise to share but equally don't want to be pestering people to spoon feed me. I can see why people who are creating stuff to download could get hacked off with people only logging in to download stuff (which is what I have done-along with reading hundreds of posts) but equally if people can't download the stuff and gain experience then they're never going to have the knowledge to share with others
just join in a bit more m8..
we dont bite muwahahaha
I do understand what you are saying terry, and also we do not want to discourage members from learning, but we need to at least get them involved a little.
You don't have to be an expert to talk in the general chat, comment on the news, post a bargain, talk in lifestyle forums, there are loads of forums members can post in without being an expert mate.
We just wanna get to know our members more. 5-10 posts later they might get stuck in and enjoy it here, who knows maybe they will get the file and never come back? But at least we tried

Mick has hit the nail on the head here (do i move this post to DIY?). Many people join this site and immediately state they have nothing to offer, nothing to share and cant contribute. Whilst the forum is mostly aimed at technology, there are lots of other areas that can be covered. I do struggle with this especially when we have members that post nothing but recipes, or chat about football. No-one and I mean no-one literally has nothing to offer, there are no exclusions to this unless you've been living in a cave all you're life and even then you could probably tell people about what it's like living in a cave...
If people post receipes fair play, and if they want to post football chat then fair play.
Who said they have to post any specific topic?
Satellite discussions and free films and hacked apps are not everyones cup of tea.
Theres no admission fee here just a 5 post charge on any topic to get access to downloads.
Seems a fair price lol
...tell us about the chair (maybe that's a bit far but I do believe we could cover pretty much anything)
Maybe a nice village tale
You have just stated that you are a reader lets hear your opinions on some of the books you have read?. Its a start and before you know it you have past your 5 post milestone and then you are ready to advance. There is nothing worse than a newbie complaining that they cannot download something in there first post.Totally agree with this. As a noob to all this, and just restarting after the best part of a year most of the stuff is new to me.

FFS if they dont want to post then don't make them.
Eventually members do have to make 5 posts just to get downloads.
But not everyone wants downloads remember.
