Not really serious serious but a ford transit was reverse parking and thumped an audi s3 pretty hard. took the front bumper off. The audi was parked up and nobody inside.
Couldnt really stop or anything but got the passangers in my car to get the reg numbers of both vehicle.
Now checked MID and the transit is insured and can locate it. But the problem is, the audi had a private plate and i cant quite make out what it is.
I want the police to be able to trace the audi but i need to give them the correct reg. tried old style and it says not insured, tried new style and still says not insured but doesnt give me name.
Will they be able to trace the owner if i give them part of the reg and vehicle name and model?

reason being is i was the victim of a pretty expensive hit and run and the nob didnt leave his details and know what its like. by the looks of the damage it is pretty bad.

Drop into the cop shop and give them the details. It's a sad indictment of the times, but they'll either be interested or they won't. At the very least they should put it in the incident book...

Will mate definately. Just wantto give them the correct reg number of the victim so they can get hold of him/her as he had one of those weird number plates. it read "kiss moh" lol. I tried all sorts of combinations but cannot get it on the MID.

And maybe the audi driver has reported the car being hit?

The only ones I can think are the obvious 2...

Possibly not practical, but you could try going back to the scene. For example if it was in a supermarket car park leave your name and mobile number (the paranoid me says don't give your home address in case it was a friend of a member of staff) with the CS desk/security.

and thats why the police say to have standard font plates ;)

But he wouldnt know who hit him.

I'll just give them as much detail as i can really and let them deal with it.
Worst thing was there was a little kid helping him reverse and saw him say stop but he still carried on lol. You can imagine a ford transit with one of them bars at the back thumping the plastics bumpers of an s3.

fair play for wanting to help! nothing is more infuriating when someone prangs your car and just fooks off! shame u couldnt have left a note on the audi with the transits reg.

Yeh but if the person who's car has been hit, has reported it...added to your evidence of the van hitting a similar car then chances are its the same car the van has hit...give as much evidence as you can and let the police deal with it..and well in for getting details, most other folk would turn a blind eye

Was going to report it online now but the bloody police website aint half difficult lol and i work till half 5, station closes at 5 so has to be via a phone call.

Hopefully they havent got some dimwit at the end of the line.

can you not put it all in writing and hand it in at the police station.Put the full description on paper and let the police deal with it. tell them its what you saw.

Out of experience the police will do nothing m8, my Mrs car got hit while she was at work, some guy gave her the details of the offending car etc.

Spoke with police as they had left the scene blah blah and they just said call insurers.
Got a letter 5 days later saying he was insured etc so they won't take it any further. I was under the impression that you had to report accidents etc.

And the insurers are shit too took 6 months and still they had had no answer from his insurers. Sent letters etc but he kept ignoring them. They repaired the car as a none fault in the end as a good will.

with current road conditions doubt the police will want to know unless someone is injured

All I can say is well done The Dentist. I have been the vic twice like this in the past 2 years.

Bastwerds

Im Still fighting the first one and have forgotten about the second.

Well done mate :)

Also although the police will not attenbd the scene of the accident unless some kind of personal injury has been sustained you owners are supposed to notify the po-po with 72 hours I think

Well i have reported it and told the guy that i couldnt tell what the actual reg was, he done a search and from the description i gave him, found the car and the owner and all the details and said he will pass the details on to the owner and contact the insurance company as well.
He was grateful as well for reporting it and seemed a very helpful guy. all good now hopefully some justice will be done.

Ah a happy ending, hopefully justice will be done. Well done The Dentist one in a million I salute you sir. Now enjoy your christmas.

I feel dirty and like a grass lol. it would have been better if the guy was just honest and left a note.

You are not a grass mate there is to much of this hit and run going on nowadays the problem is there are no honest people any more.I was driving home from work today and its like a war out there people in cars pushing in front of you not thanking you what it is that all about?.Question is do we join them or keep up the courtesy?

i scraped the side of the back bumper of a car about six months ago in a supermarket carpark, left a note on the windscreen with my phone number but they never called me.
