going back to you 1st post, what is the error code? do you get an error code like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-C000-0001 (six groups of four-digits), did you try updating via USB with your HDD removed?

Is the dvd drive thats in the xbox the origanal drive or has it been replaced with a diffrent dvd drive ect model..
It's the orginal drive mate if you have a flick through the thread.....

The only time i have known this to happen is when the dvddrive is replaced in the xbox with a diffrent dvddrive version model then spoofed as origanal dvddrive can cause dash update to fail..e64 error..but could be wrong..
if there's an error code (see the OP 1st post) then it'll help narrow it down i guess, there's even an error code if the drive thought it was half open on a restart. guess if the OP posts then we'll know....
