When you're being port scanned

I installed a firewall ages ago - Zone Alarm.

My machine gets connected to freqently, and zonealarm does it's job, but it's usually just one attempt on one port.

I've only been port scanned once, and I reported this back to their ISP, who said they'd taken appropriate action, but wouldn't tell me what it was.

Is it a good idea to report port scanning to the ISP of the offender, or is it a waste of time? I hope they'll be chucked off their ISP.
