Inverness CT 1-3 Kilmarnock FT
St Mirren 0-2 Hearts FT

Celtic are top of the table going in to the end of the year - even though they've played two more matches than Rangers. Hearts have increased their lead in third place over Kilmarnock to nine points, while Hibs and St Mirren continue to struggle. Earlier in the evening, it was two wins on the run for Aberdeen's new manager Craig Brown, to make for a very eventful evening in the Scottish Premier League.

Celtic moved to the top of the SPL table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Motherwell, but Scott Brown will miss this weekend's Old Firm clash after being sent off.

Paddy McCourt's goal after 27 minutes was enough to see off managerless Motherwell at Parkhead.

But the game ended on a sour note for Celtic with skipper Brown being sent off for a second bookable offence in the closing seconds.

Hearts maintained their good run of form with a 2-0 win at St Mirren.

After a goalless first half Highly-rated winger David Templeton broke the deadlock for Hearts just past the hour mark.

St Mirren were reduced to ten men nine minutes from time when John Potter hauled down Templeton inside the box and Kevin Kyle scored the resulting penalty.

Kilmarnock leapfrogged Inverness in the table to climb up to fourth with a 3-1 win at the Caledonian Stadium.

Craig Bryson fired Kilmarnock in front on 26 minutes and Liam Kelly added a second after 68 minutes.

Richie Foran gave Inverness hope when he reduced the arrears on 71 minutes, but Jamie Hamill made the game safe with Kilmarnock's third goal seven minutes later.

Hibernian came from two goals down to earn a valuable 2-2 draw with Dundee United at Easter Road.

David Goodwillie gave United a dream start with the opener after just two minutes and he doubled the lead on 35 minutes.

Sol Bamba pulled a goal back a minute before the break when he scored from close-range.

United were reduced to ten men 12 minutes from time when Danny Swanson was sent off for a second bookable offence after a deliberate handball.

Hibs made their numercial advantage count when Paul Hanlon grabbed an equaliser a minute from time.

Scott Vernon's injury-time goal earned Aberdeen a 1-0 win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park in the early kick-off.

The game looked set to end goalless until Vernon popped up with the winner in the closing seconds.

The win was new Aberdeen boss Craig Brown's second win in succession to lift them six points above Hamilton at the foot of the table.

Daphne To miss old firm game

Scott Brown's sending off for 2 bookable offenses means he'll miss the old firm derby, as there is no appeal for 2 yellow cards
