Well the digibox contains a CAM which is the equipment used to read, write and generally 'talk' to the card. Not sure if you will have much luck using that as a piece of programing equipment tho, I dont know of any conversions. But why bother? You can put your Elvis into phoenix mode and read and (very limited) write so no need for any other equipment. It is best to use a dedicated phoenix programer because the Elvis is fairly slow in phoenix mode so you do get many timeout errors. The only other thing you need is the winexplorer4.6 software.
Now the problem with writing what you want to the card, is that the card contains an Application Specific Integrated Circuit which will chuck out anything it decides is not valid. This will be anything you send that does not contain a valid 8 byte signature.
I hope this answers your question and saves you from destroying a perfectly good digibox <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
