I am trying to get a server running which is using NewCS 1.67 and have a couple of Technomates which are going to be connected to the server. Which Softcam would you use NewCS or NewCamD, or are they the same thing? The receiver will not have any cards in and will only be clients. If I use NewCamD to connect to the server which file needs to be changed for the server IP address and which bits do I change?

CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000
#CWS_MULTIPLE = 127.0.0.1 15000:15001 dummy dummy 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs
CWS = 127.0.0.1 15000 dummy dummy 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs

CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = And what is this for????
#CWS_MULTIPLE = Server IP Address here?? Port Numbers Here??? User Name Pass Here??? 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs
CWS = Server IP Address Here??? Port Numbers Here??? User Name Pass Here??? 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs

Thanks in advance

i did a post explaining all of the above, along with colour coded parts of the line explaining each bit, ill have a look for it

the best cam to use for this is mgcamd m8

Now that I have edited the newcamd.list file CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000
#CWS_MULTIPLE = name's changed to protect the innocent 15010:15020:15030:15040:15050 user1 user1 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs
CWS = 127.0.0.1 15000 dummy dummy 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs

How do I connect to the server, which keys do I press on the remote to allow me to connect, and what response will I expect to receive if things aren't correct?

Thanks in advance

Liam

remove the leading # from the line m8 as this tells the box to ignore everything that follows and to continue to the next line

ive also found that using CWS_MULTIPLE sometimes has funny affects, so i use a seperate line for each port needed

once you have edited the file, press the blue button, then left or right untill mgcamd is in the default cam window, then press the green button to save

after about 5 seconds youll have a box on the screen saying the cam is starting, then if everything is set up right, you should start to clear channels

Thanks for all your help Digidude, its very much appreciated. I would like to know if I can post my newcs.xml file from my server here and see if anyone can shed any light on the problems that I am having with the configuration? I understand that certain forums don't want to be connected with running card servers.

Thanks in advance

Liam

if you post it, remove any passwords etc, and we can take a look for you
